Visa
The High Commission accepts visa applications from the nationals of Guyana, St. Kitts & Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda subject to their providing proof of residence. The process usually takes one working day.
Applicants of other nationalities may contact the Visa Officer of the High Commission.
The prescribed validity of the visa commences from the date of issue of the visa and not from the date a person enters India. All persons holding visa valid for more than 180 days, except children below 16 years of age and certain categories or persons holding such visas with the stipulation that each stay must not exceed 180 days, should register themselves with the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office within 14 days of arrival in India. Visiting foreign nationals should also ensure that they leave India before the expiry of visa.
Documents to be submitted in general with visa application:
- Tourist Visa: Two recent photographs (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm) against a light background showing full frontal view of the face, and yellow fever vaccination certificate.
- Non-Guyanese applicants: Original Resident Permit with a copy, in addition to documents as mentioned at i) above.
- Business visa: A letter of invitation from the concerned Indian company or recommendation from the local Chamber of Commerce along with company profile and a letter from applicant’s company/firm, in addition to documents mentioned at i) above.
- Student visa: A confirmed offer of admission from the concerned Indian Institutions along with an undertaking of financial guarantee from the sponsor/parent, in addition to documents mentioned at i) above.
- Conference visa: Invitation letter from the organizers of Conference along with a copy of the requisite approval of the competent authority in India, in addition to documents mentioned at i) above.
- Transit visa: Valid for 15 days. In addition to documents mentioned at i) above confirmed air tickets need to be produced.

Tourist visa (valid for and upto 6 months): G$ 8,000.00 or US$ 40.00
Tourist visa (valid for and upto 1 year): G$ 13,000.00 or US$ 65.00
Tourist visa (valid for up to 5 years): G$ 26,000.00 or US$130.00
Transit visa valid for 15 days): G$ 4,000.00 or US$ 20.00
Student visa (valid for duration of the course
for a period of 5 years,whichever is less) : GS15,000 00 or US$ 75.00

Passport Services
New passport
New passport is required when the old passport has completed its validity or when a new passport booklet is necessitated on account of change in particulars like name, appearance, etc.
Documents required:
- Duly filled in application form
- Existing passport along with photocopy thereof
- Four photographs (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm) against a light background showing full frontal view of the face.
- Copy of resident permit
Fees: G$ 8,000.00 or US$ 40.00 (for a 36 page booklet)
G$ 10,000.00 or US$ 50.00 (for a 6 page booklet)
Ordinary passport for children below 15 years of age: G$ 5,000.00 or US$ 25.00

- Current passport with photocopy thereof

Duplicate passport in lieu of damaged passport/lost passport
Documents required:
- Passport application form (five copies)
- Additional details form (five copies)
- Eight photographs (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm) against a light background showing full frontal view of the face.

- Copy of resident permit/visa
- Police report in case of lost passport

Attestation of documents

the document can be notarized from a notary public and the signature of the notary public verified from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of origin of the document.

Registration of Birth
Every child who is born to Indian parents in Guyana, Antigua & Barbuda and St.Kitts & Nevis is required to be registered with the High Commission. A birth certificate is issued to the child upon registration.
Documents required:
i) Application (Miscellaneous Passport Services Form)
ii) Original passports of both the parents with photocopies thereof
iii) Birth certificate, issued by local authorities, in original

Registration of death
Documents required:
i) Application (Miscellaneous Passport Services Form)
ii) Death certificate
iii) Passport of the deceased

Registration of Indian nationals

P I O (Person of Indian Origin) Card Scheme
Government of India, in March 1999, introduced the PIO Card Scheme. The scheme was modified in September 2002. Following are the salient features of the Scheme.
A) Person of Indian Origin means a person holding a nationality other than Indian ( but not being a citizen of Pakistan, Bangladesh and other countries as may be specified by the Government of India from time to time) if,
(i) He/she at any time was a citizen of India;
(ii) He/she or either or both of his/her parents or grand parents or great grand parents was/were born in and permanently resided in India.
(iii) He/she is a spouse of a citizen of India or a person of Indian origin covered under (i) or (ii) above.
B) PIO Card means a card issued under this scheme.
C) Facilities available to a PIO Card holder:
(i) A PIO Card holder shall not require a separate visa to visit India.
(ii) A PIO Card holder will be exempt from the requirement of registration if his stay in India on any single visit does not exceed 180 days.
(iii) In the event continued stay in India of the PIO Card holder exceeds 180 days, he/she shall have to get himself/herself registered within 30 days of the expiry of 180 days with the concerned Foreign Regional Registration Officer.
(iv) All PIO Card holders shall enjoy parity with Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in respect of all facilities available to the latter in the economic, financial and educational fields except in matters relating to the acquisition of agricultural/plantation properties. No parity is allowed in the sphere of political rights.
D) Validity of PIO Card: 15 years
